Inspired By…

The Day Before

It was taken out of context

Whatever your note meant

Because I know it couldn’t mean

Whatever you wrote

Whatever it is you wanted to say

Got lost in translation

In the synapses from your mind to your hand

Every letter on that page is some kind of mistake

Some unfunny joke the pencil tried to play

But how is it that every time I look at your chair

You’re not sitting there?

The smile you gave me was a little sad

And when I tried to blink it away

You were gone

I will wait here for you

Because I know you’ll be back soon

But my coffee’s gone cold

And the words on the page haven’t changed

I’m not sure about the lines “The smile… you were gone.”  I feel like they need to be moved elsewhere.  What do you think?

Happy birthday to Ralph Steadman, whose illustrations perfectly embodied Hunter S. Thompson’s style, and who somehow survived their partnership.

One of my favorite artists.

Just started watching the first ep of Legend of Korra.  Already had a weird disconnect where I was like… oh yeah, Tenzin is Katara’s son.  This doesn’t bode well.

Hustling Haiku

It’s twenty-five an

hour if you want to hear

my script opinions.

Screened Haiku

I’m a V.I.P.

My ticket says so, that’s why

I drove all that way.

Hopeful Haiku

The day will come when

things start falling into place,

but I’m impatient.

fakecriterions:

Sabotage: The Complete Series [1972]
RIP, MCA.
Thank you for making great music and funny things.
You really ought to get the Beastie Boys Video Anthology from the real Criterion Collection, if you haven’t, already.

Hungover Haiku

Someone invent a

hangover cure; Gatorade

isn’t cutting it.

This is honestly one of the most beautiful music videos I’ve ever seen.  You will cry.  I did.

Wasted Haiku

Half-drunk, Jay Park on

my car stereo, is there

anything better?
